Everyday
The Prerequisite
“The Prophet has a greater claim upon the believers than they have upon themselves.”
— Qur’an 33:6
They ask me,
“Why does Ali crown your tongue?
Why do your verses praise his name?
Has love for him outshone the Sun,
Or set the Prophet’s light to shame?”
I smiled and said,
“Before we judge,
Let’s start where Revelation starts.
For truth is never built on noise,
But ordered minds and yielded hearts.”
For Allah did not simply say,
“Love My Prophet if you will.”
He first declared:
“Allah has not placed two hearts
Within a single breast.”
One heart.
One throne.
One highest claim.
One love above the rest.
And then He drew the measure clear,
A measure greater than my soul:
“The Prophet has more right to me
Than I possess upon my own.”
Before my comfort.
Before my pride.
Before the dreams I hold so dear.
Before the whispers of my heart.
Before each hope and every fear.
And even those within his home
Were summoned to a choice made plain:
The beauty of this fleeting world—
Or Allah, His Messenger,
And what remains.
One heart.
One throne.
One choice.
Revelation makes the meaning clear:
To call myself a Mu’min means
Muhammad must be first in here.
Only then—
When self is second,
And Muhammad stands above,
Can I begin to understand
The meaning of prophetic love.
So measure not
My love for Haydar
Till Muhammad’s right is known.
Ask first:
Who stands above my self?
Who occupies the throne?
For loving Ali never was
A rival love
To loving Nabi.
I came to Ali
Through Muhammad—
For Muhammad
Led me to Ali.
Now tell me—
How can one
Who never climbed
The mountain
Reach the peak?
How can a thirsty soul
Describe
The flowing spring
It did not seek?
How can the branch
Outgrow the root?
How can the echo
Lead the voice
From whom
It learned its call?
No—
Ali would never
Take the place
His Master
Never gave.
His life itself
Was testimony
To the Messenger
He served.
For every sword
That Ali raised,
The Prophet’s hand
Had shaped its aim.
For every truth
That Ali spoke,
Muhammad first
Ignited flame.
His courage—
Nurtured
At Ahmad’s side.
His wisdom—
From the Chosen Guide.
His mercy—
From the Mercy sent.
His life—
A living testament.
Ask Ali
Who Muhammad was.
Ask the Lion
Whom he obeyed.
Ask the man
Who took his bed
While assassins
Raised their blades.
Ask him:
“Whose life was worth
More than your own?”
And Ali’s actions
Have replied:
Muhammad.
So when you hear
“Ya Ali!”
Do not assume
Muhammad’s gone.
Listen closer—
For the love of Haydar
Is where Muhammad’s teaching
Carries on.
Who taught us
Ali’s station?
Who raised his hand
For all to see?
Who showed us
What his love should mean?
Muhammad.
So do not ask
If I love Ali
More than Muhammad.
Ask instead
Whether I have loved
Muhammad enough
To deserve Ali.
For Iman
Is the journey.
Ali
Is a proof
That I followed the Guide.
But Muhammad—
Muhammad is the prerequisite.
